its friday afternoon here in San Francisco, and a few of the local school kids have come by for cream puffs… I guess I got a little nostalgic for some of our childhood favorites.
Back at Neulans Rd, we had friday afternoon frosty fruits, nachos and banana milkshakes before swimming club. Mum baked other treats like that coconut raspberry slice, date loaf ..and all of it was such a treat for 4 girls who weren’t often allowed sweets! At our cousins place, we would pile out of the pool for wedges of watermelon, Cottee’s cordial and bun.
In the later years, Dad was in charge and we frequented Monticlaire for Chelsea/Boston Buns, little caramel tarts and yummy scones with sultanas. (just found myself wondering of the boston bun’s origin, optimistic of finding one in Boston- a quick wiki search ended that thought..it is, in fact, a purely Australian thing!)
I have to say, if I grew up near Pac Puffs, I would be angling for a big classic cream puff too!
